Stories from Our Customers: Keith & Sharon

Written by Liz Maguire on Sept 25, 2020 | 0 Comments

Keith planned to propose to his hometown Sweetheart Sharon this Fall on a trip to Ireland. When plans changed due to COVID-19, this ‘Canadian Casanova’ cooked up “Plan B”.

Thanks to Keith for sitting down with us to chat all things romance and how the happy couple came to choose My Irish Jeweler for their Forever Rings.

Can you tell us a bit about how you guys met?

Keith: “This is a second marriage for both of us and our coupling is a “Modern-Day” Fairytale...we met online! That being said, fate really played a part! I lived four hours away from Sharon and the only reason the dating app served up Sharon as a ‘match’ was because I was in a nearby town for my daughter’s sports tournament.

On the reverse side, Sharon decided to view my profile because I resided in her hometown. She messaged me and we began to chat. We connected immediately but were amazed to learn her parents and I knew each other well! Why the heck did they never set us up?!”

Did COVID-19 affect your plans?

K.: “We began to date and fell in love easily and quickly! After four and a half months of long distance dating, Sharon moved back home and we bought a house together. After almost three years of true bliss, I proposed on July 1st, 2020. The proposal was set to happen in Ireland; Sharon and I had a two week trip planned for this Fall. It was going to be quite the elaborate proposal right in MIJ! But with CoVID, we cancelled our trip and I came up with a ‘Plan B’. I proposed on our boat after a beautiful day of fishing! Sharon jokes that she landed the biggest catch that day!”

Why did you choose rings from Ireland?

K.: “We LOVE their unique designs, the craftsmanship, their quality, and above all, the incredible service that we’ve received from the entire Team at My Irish Jeweler. From the moment that Sharon bought me my first Celtic Lover’s knot ring, followed by my surprise promise Claddagh for her, we knew that we could fully trust the MIJ team with our wedding rings when that time came. Sharon’s Emerald and Diamond halo set look breathtaking on her hand, and has been the focus of many conversations with friends and family throughout the summer. And the brilliant design of my pierced Celtic Knot band has the perfect blend of tradition, meaning, style, and comfort.”

What surprised you about the Big Day?

K.: “We had a private exchange of vows during our summer holiday.”

Plans for a honeymoon?

K.: “We plan to honeymoon in Ireland when travel is safe again. We can’t wait to visit your beautiful country and meet in person the folks at MIJ that helped make our Fairytale come true!”

Comhghairdeas!

Congratulations to Keith and Sharon on this next chapter of their Fairytale story. We're delighted that My Irish Jeweler could play a part in finding and securing your perfect Forever Rings. Here's to many wonderful years together!

My Irish Jeweler

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Thanks to my Irish born father I was lucky enough to regularly visit Ireland -- and receive visitors from Ireland often, to my childhood home. This blending of cultures triggered my interest in Irish art and culture. My love for jewelry was nurtured by my American mom who is an artisan jeweler and dealer. I grew up loving Ireland and jewelry!

Now I happily reside in Dublin, having read Irish Literature and History at Trinity College Dublin. Having a passion for Irish literature, I am particularly interested in the work of poet W.B. Yeats. With the Celtic Revival in the 20th century, Yeats and his contemporaries did much for Irish arts and history. Many of our beautiful pieces at My Irish Jeweler are inspired by the myths and legends, as well as artwork, which gained permanence in Irish heritage as a result of the Celtic Revival.

I look forward to sharing the history and stories which influence the inspiration for our pieces with the My Irish Jeweler readers.
