Stories from Our Customers: Siobhan & Aidan

Written by Liz Maguire on Mar 12, 2021 | 0 Comments

When Siobhan and Aidan knew it was time to tie the knot they came to My Irish Jeweler for rings. Read on to hear how this Aussie couple celebrated their once-in-a-lifetime love.

How did you both meet?

Siobhan: “Aidan and I grew up together in south headland in Western Australia. We always had such a strong friendship and bond. We later reconnected as teenagers attending concerts together and family get-togethers. Fast forward to December 5th 2020 we tied the knot on the iconic Busselton jetty in Western Australia.”

Why did you choose rings from Ireland?

Siobhan: “I’m from an Irish family. My dad being a Dublin man born and raised and also my husband’s father was born and raised in Scotland. We both had such a special connection to traditional Gaelic jewellery. My dear mum, who tragically passed away, had a Claddagh ring tattooed on her leg to symbolise the marriage and love between her and my father.”

“We can’t express how important our rings are to us. The fact they are made in Dublin too is absolutely incredible. We are so over the moon and love showing off our unique and very special wedding bands.”

Comhghairdeas!

Congratulations or Comhghairdeas to the happy couple and their celtic love story from Down Under! We were delighted to help Siobhan and Aidan find wedding rings with real meaning for them. Here's to their future together and that it be filled with the sentiment of the Claddagh: Love, Loyalty, and Friendship!

My Irish Jeweler

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Thanks to my Irish born father I was lucky enough to regularly visit Ireland -- and receive visitors from Ireland often, to my childhood home. This blending of cultures triggered my interest in Irish art and culture. My love for jewelry was nurtured by my American mom who is an artisan jeweler and dealer. I grew up loving Ireland and jewelry!

Now I happily reside in Dublin, having read Irish Literature and History at Trinity College Dublin. Having a passion for Irish literature, I am particularly interested in the work of poet W.B. Yeats. With the Celtic Revival in the 20th century, Yeats and his contemporaries did much for Irish arts and history. Many of our beautiful pieces at My Irish Jeweler are inspired by the myths and legends, as well as artwork, which gained permanence in Irish heritage as a result of the Celtic Revival.

I look forward to sharing the history and stories which influence the inspiration for our pieces with the My Irish Jeweler readers.
