How to Make a Bridal Brooch Bouquet in 4 Easy Steps

Written by Gemma Butler on May 22, 2023 | 0 Comments

Bridal brooch bouquets are expensive items to buy pre-made online. This also misses the opportunity to add personal touches and perhaps a few family heirlooms to such an iconic part of a bride's wedding day look.

Savvy brides are choosing the DIY route for this wedding trend. Adding their own personal touches while bringing down the costs in their wedding budget.

Below you will find our step- by-step guide on how to make your own bridal brooch bouquet from inexpensive craft materials, costume brooches or family heirlooms, and perhaps one of our very own Celtic brooches.

Step 1. Gather Your Materials

To make a Bridal Brooch Bouquet you will need:

  • A large styrofoam ball
  • A bouquet handle (from a local florist preferably white/ivory to match your dress)
  • Pins to secure brooches
  • Glitter Spray
  • Tulle to match your theme
  • E6000 Glue for extra securing if needed
  • Scissors
  • Brooches/Earrings/Buttons (a mix of about 20)
  • Synthetic, silk or natural filler flowers

Step 2. Prepare your Base

Spray your large styrofoam ball with glitter spray paint. Leave to dry. When it is dry glue it firmly to your bouquet handle and leave to dry completely overnight.

Step 3. Get Pinning

When you are satisfied that your large styrofoam ball is solidly secured to your bouquet handle you can begin pinning your brooches and flower fillers all over the exposed areas of the styrofoam, use glue and pins to secure each brooch/button/earrings down.

When you have secured all brooches/earrings/buttons leave the glue to dry. When dry give your bouquet a shake if brooches/earrings/buttons come loose. If any do fall pop them back on more securely.

Step 4: Wrap It Up

Gather tulle fabric at the base of your bouquet handle and secure with pins, this is the final touch. Fluff the tulle out at the base as desired and voila! Your very own bespoke DIY Bridal Bouquet.
