How to Wear Your Claddagh Ring

Written by Ciaran Vipond on Nov 13, 2019 | 2 Comments

Over 400 years ago, the residents of Galway didn't have Facebook to declare their relationship status. However, they were able to do the very same thing with a Claddagh ring. Yes, those in the know can tell a lot about someone by the way they wear their Claddagh ring. Watch our handy video below to learn all about it or read on to find out how to wear your Claddagh ring.

Looking for love?

Wear your ring on the right hand with the heart pointing outward.

Is your heart promised to another?

Wear your Claddagh ring on the right hand with the heart pointing in to the body. This makes the Claddagh a perfect Promise Ring.

Are you engaged?

You might wear your Claddagh ring on the left hand with the heart pointing out from the body. We have a beautiful range of Claddagh Engagement rings set with Diamond, Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby that are sure to be worn proudly, no matter the hand.

My Irish Jeweler

Born in Co. Antrim and reared in Dublin, I was fascinated with Gaelic culture from an early age. I suppose it's not surprising given my mother inherited a grá for the Irish language from my grandfather, an Irish school headmaster. And that grá continues! My brother and sister are now Gaelic teachers here in Ireland, my niece is an award winning Irish dancer, and I proudly work to share Irish culture through our Irish and Celtic Jewelry at My Irish Jeweler!

I love researching and reading about the history of Irish design. It's at the core of what we do here at My Irish Jeweler. I find much of it so interesting that I have to share what I find. I hope you enjoy it!

Dear myirishjeweler:
Have you ever created a piece of jewelry that was a 3 sided celtic knot intertwines with a heart?
I tired to attach a picture, but this system would not allow me.
[Is there an email address where I could send a picture of what I am looking for?]

I also tried a few times using the link to send a message, but it was not working...
Thanks.
Molly
