This is the original History of Ireland bangle made by Michael Hilliar in the 1970's. An amazing piece of jewelry with 12 symbols illustrate key events of Irelands past.
The arrival of St Patrick in the 5th century is perhaps one of the most important symbols. St Patrick was thought to be responsible for converting Ireland to Christianity. Throughout the ages we were invaded by the Vikings, then the Normans, the famine in the 1840's, followed by mass emigration.
All of these events and more are depicted in the iconic symbols of this design. A detailed booklet accompanies every piece outlining the meaning and significance of each symbol.
As this bangle is very heavy and wide, it would be considered suitable for the person who loves chunky and heavy jewelry. Without a shadow of doubt this bangle is an 'Heirloom'. Definitely a piece of jewelry to be handed down by generations and worn with pride. A great conversation piece too!
Since Micheal Hilliar's retirement 5 years ago this bangle is available exclusively from My Irish Jeweler.
Narrower bangles and bracelets are also available in the range. The bangle is very heavy and measures approx 1 inch in width. The bangle can be made with a split or completely solid.
