Deep roots and family ties: Marc McNulty

Written by Gemma Butler on Apr 26, 2023 | 0 Comments

A leading wartime codebreaker, Agnes Meyer Driscoll, is credited with a piece of wisdom that sprang to mind when chatting Marc, a recent customer.

“Fortunate are the people whose roots are deep."

We had the recent good luck to meet Marc, a real raconteur and one of those fortunate people with deep roots! We were delighted that we prevailed upon him to share a few pieces of his wonderful family story with us all below:

Can you tell us a little more about your family tree?

I would consider myself to be part of the global Celtic family. My 3rd-great grandfather Patrick McNulty was born in Ireland in 1798 and moved his family to the U.S. sometime around 1850. At 46, I’m the oldest male McNulty in our part of the family tree since the passing of my father, followed by his older brother. I have an 8-year-old son named Warner along with an 11-year-old daughter named Kasandra (I’m sure she will want something from your website, too!). My son was named after my grandfather and great-grandfather, both of whom were named Warner McNulty.

I have my grandfather's army dress uniform along with some coins he brought back from Europe during this time there! My son still finds it fascinating that he was named after two previous Warners in the family and has commented that he’s the “new version.”

We have various Irish decorative pieces in our house along with some historical items pertaining to the history of our family name. Although I’ve never been to Ireland, I’ve always felt a connection to it since my roots trace back there.

What drew you to your piece of Irish Jewelry?

I’ve enjoyed wearing bracelets for years, as did my father before he passed almost five years ago, and I wanted to find something that displays my Irish heritage. I’ve never had anything like that before, so I thought it would be interesting to have - provided I could find the right piece. After not finding anything on the website of a national jeweler here in the States (or on Amazon for that matter), I conducted a simple Google search and found your website! Within minutes I knew that the bracelet I ended up buying was exactly what I had been looking for.

I told my wife about it, as she had asked me what I wanted for my upcoming birthday on March 31, and she told me to go ahead and get it. I showed her some of the women’s jewelry on the site and I think we will end up getting something for her as well as for my mom in the not-too-distant future!

Go raibh maith agat

We found it inspiring to chat with someone who so clearly cherishes their family and heritage. Thank you to Marc for sharing the wonderful story of your family tree and its strong roots. Maith thú - Good on you.

And, of course, we would be more than happy to help you, or anyone else in your "tree" if they ever have a need for their own piece of Irish Jewelry in the future!
