About This Piece

Ogham the first known written language of Ireland and is at least 1500 years old but probably quite a bit older. This mysterious and unique alphabet consists of groups of parallel lines, set across a vertical "stem." Each group represents a different letter of the alphabet, and it is read vertically from the bottom up.

There are fine examples of Ogham stones scattered around Ireland that give glimpses into our ancient past. Ogham was initially engraved on standing stone markers to honor loved ones. Our ogham designs continue this tradition today, engraving your a word or name of significance for you in this ancient script.

A beautiful spiralling, three armed triskele makes a wonderful counterbalance to the linear ogham script. The triskele is a truly ancient symbol of spirituality, used in Ireland for over 500 years.

Make it yours

The reverse of the necklace is left blank to facilitate an additional short engraving of 2 to 3 words should you choose to add it. Many choose to include the "translation" or "transliteration" of their ogham engraving in the latin alphabet.
