Newgrange

Part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site that pre-dates Stonehenge and the pyramids of Giza, Newgrange is one of Ireland’s finest Prehistoric treasures. Over 5000 years old, it is a striking construction of 76m diameter and 12m height

In a fantastic feat of engineering and astronomy, the tomb is built in precise alignment with the rising sun on the Winter Solstice. From the 18th to the 23rd of December each year, dawn sunlight streams in through a small roof box to illuminate the beautiful spiral carvings and embellishments in the passage tomb.

Neolithic Roots

Our Newgrange jewelry is inspired by this impressive monument, its craftspeople and the fascinating stone carvings at the site, particularly the spirals carved into the entrance stone of the ancient tomb.

Each piece of Newgrange jewelry is crafted in fine sterling silver and gold, painstakingly worked to recreate the texture of the coarse granite stone at Newgrange. Gold is also artfully used to emulate the warm sunlight that illuminates the tomb each winter. With fine detailing including spirals and the iconic triskele, a three armed spiral, these stunning pieces combine modern craft and styling with evocative pre-Celtic symbols to create pieces that are truly unique.

Stunning Spirals

Spirals feature heavily in ancient Irish art, but the triskele or Tri-Spiral is the most famous Megalithic symbol in the world. The beautiful triskele design of the 5 tonne Newgrange entrance stone was carved at least 2500 years before the Celts even reached Ireland.

We might never know the beliefs of the prehistoric people who created these beautiful designs. But to this day we can appreciate their ingenious fusion of engineering, artistry and astronomy.

And just as our pre-Celtic ancestors hand carved their intricate designs into the rocks and stone at Newgrange, we emulate their craft in this stunning collection using only the very best tools, precious metals and processes.
