About This Piece

This Sterling Silver handmade brooch is made by master Irish silversmith, Aidan Breen. The brooch features a pierced or cut out design with a beautiful interlocking Celtic pattern. The skill involved in handmaking these intricate forms shows Aidan's extraordinary talent. The brooch is solid and quite heavy, looks amazing on the lapel of a coat or jacket, pinning a scarf or even a chunky sweater. The silver is polished to a very high sheen and will not go unnoticed on the wearer.

Inspired by a Literary Masterpiece

The design is inspired by Ireland's world-famous Book Of Kells, an 8th century manuscript. It is housed in the library of Trinity College Dublin, it attracts more than 500,000 visitors a year. It contains the four Gospels in Latin. Two volumes are normally on display, one opened to display a major decorated page and one to show two pages of script.

This brooch would make the perfect gift for the person who appreciates quality at its finest with wonderful history attached. The brooch measures approx 1.5" in diameter. Hallmarked in Dublin by the Assay Office.

The same design is also available as a necklace, worn with a solid 24" or 28" chain. Details on request.

Hello Peter. Thanks for your incredibly courteous and prompt service. The brooch looks fabulous, but the proof will be in the pudding when it is opened on Christmas morning. David
