What is Quiet Luxury?

Written by Gemma on Sept 17, 2025 | 0 Comments

Simply put, Quiet Luxury is an approach to style that focuses on high-quality, timeless pieces.

Where and when did Quiet Luxury come from?

Quiet Luxury is clearly not a new concept! This trend, which many link to the airing of the fourth season of Succession in 2023, is a real case of old wine in a new bottle!

The roots of this trend can be traced all the way back to the 18th century in Europe, when people and especially men, began rejecting ostentatious fashion for a more understated style.

Fast forward to the postwar 20th century, and large French fashion houses began developing classic, timeless styles without ostentatious branding, breathing new life into this understated and elegant approach.

Jump ahead again to 2023, and the combination of TikTok and cultural touchstones like the final season of Succession sent the term Quiet Luxury into the mainstream. This style has been dominating feeds for the past two years. Even with a slight shift towards higher-impact looks lately, prioritizing quality and designs with timeless longevity remains the go-to for the style set. Quiet luxury looks to reign supreme for a long time to come!

What jewellery should you invest in if quiet luxury is your style?

Whatever your style, we always recommend investing in the best quality that you can afford. The strategy is to focus on high-quality materials and classic design, with versatility in pieces that provide great value per wear. The price tag on a solid gold necklace may seem expensive at first glance. However, when you consider that the necklace will look great today, tomorrow, next year, or 20 years from now, there is significant value in that initial investment, as it is a piece you can wear for a lifetime.

Our co-founder Peter was ahead of the Quiet Luxury curve with his favourite phrase capturing this approach to a T,

“Price is soon forgotten, quality lasts a lifetime.”

It's that ethos that underpins our entire collection here at My Irish Jeweler. As a heritage brand, focused on high quality and classic designs, our jewellery is the epitome of Quiet Luxury. Our designs don’t chase trends, instead we celebrate our deep roots. And our unique and carefully crafted, quality pieces of timeless jewellery look as beautiful today as they will for a lifetime.
