This sterling silver necklace combines a minimal and modern look with deeply personal meaning and ancient Irish tradition. Each piece is hand engraved with your choice of Ogham inscription, the first known alphabet of the Irish.
Groups of lines along a vertical "stem" represent individual letters and it is read "up the tree" from bottom to top. An enigmatic script that looks clean and even modern despite its great age.
Ancient stones bearing Ogham engravings still stand around Ireland. The were often used to honor a loved one, with many early inscriptions translating as people's names. We love this tradition. Many continue it today by having a name or word of significance for them engraved onto a piece of precious jewellery.
The reverse of the bar is finished with the engraving in gaelic script. First devised in medieval Ireland this decorative script was used in ancient manuscripts, taking over from Ogham as the dominant alphabet for our ancestors. Its beautiful flowing forms are still used to this day.

The length of the necklace is 18 inches with an additional extender included bring the total to 20 inches. If you are buying for a younger person or someone smaller in stature, the chain can also be shortened.

I love this necklace, this is my second one. My only complaint is so show the ability to write longer names, but when you go or order, you’re limited to 7 letters. In the order area you show words like ‘happiness’, can’t really ask for that. I wanted to have my name Billie Walsh, but that doesn’t fit. Yes, I’m Irish as you can tell. That’s it!
