A refreshing free gift for Father's Day

Written by Jane on June 05, 2026 | 0 Comments

When we were chatting through ideas for how to make Father's Day extra special this year, our friends and neighbours at The Black Stuff came quickly to mind. Gemma's husband Peter is a big fan of their unique Irish handmade soaps, so we knew it would be a hit!

Why the Black Stuff?

When Gemma took to Google to find some Irish handmade soap for a gift for her husband Peter, she didn't realise that the company she found were our neighbours here at My Irish Jeweler! Their soap is made just around the corner from us in Sandyford, nestled at the foot of the Dublin Mountains.

Gemma had her present delivered to work (so as not to spoil the surprise for Peter). Handing over the package, our ever helpful postie told Gemma she would have been faster strolling the 1/4 mile round the corner to pick it up herself! We were neighbours!

Excited to hear about another small Irish business in the neighbourhood, Gemma recounted the story to the team. And sure enough, the penny quickly dropped for Ciarán. Gemma had ordered the gift from his good friend John at "The Black Stuff." We were neighbours and friends! Now, there is an old trope that everyone in Ireland knows each-other and that there is typically much less than six degrees of separation here! Does this count as -1 degrees of separation?

Quality and Craft

Happily, the Black Stuff value quality and craft just as much as we do, so we thought you all would love it just like Peter! Ciarán made a short call to John, and quicker than a pint of the other Black Stuff (Guinness) can settle, we had delightful soap to share with all of you.

A gift for him?

We are delighted to include one bar of this delightful Irish Rain soap from The Black Stuff with each order of our fine Irish Jewellery in the run up to Father's Day. Just be quick, the offer ends 12th of June while stocks last.

Of course you can give the soap to dad as a gift (he is sure to love it), or keep it for yourself and pick him something special from our range. We are also here to help should you need any assistance in picking out the perfect gift. Just drop us an email or give us a call.

My Irish Jeweler

Born in Dublin but reared in Canada, as a child I had an interest in Ireland that will be familiar to many young emigrants. I was completely fascinated, wanting to know all about the land of my parents and grandparents. Rare month-long family trips back "Home" cemented my love for Ireland. And I wore my Irish heritage with pride, sporting my tiny silver Claddagh gifted to me by my Irish grandparents until my finger grew too large for it!

As a young adult I moved back to Dublin, studying Geology and Mineralogy in university at historic Trinity College Dublin. After living in Denmark and the Netherlands working as a scientist and university mineralogy lecturer, I finally settled back home in Dublin. I joined the growing family at My Irish Jeweler in 2016, bringing my useful knowledge of metals and minerals as well as my perspective as an Irish emigrant with a love for HOME.
