Written by Ciaran on Nov 13, 2019 | 2 Comments

Over 300 years ago, Irish people didn't have social media to share their relationship status, but they were able to do something similar with a Claddagh ring. Those in the know can tell a lot about someone by the way they wear their Claddagh ring! Watch our handy video below to learn all about it, or read on to find out what how to wear your Claddagh ring says about your love life!

Looking for love?

If you want to tell people that you are single and looking for love, your would wear your Claddagh ring on the right hand with the heart pointing outward.

Is your heart promised to someone?

If you are in a relationship and are not open to other offers, you would wear your Claddagh ring on the right hand with the heart pointing in to the body. This makes the Claddagh a perfect Promise Ring.

My Irish Jeweler

Born in Co. Antrim and reared in Dublin, I was fascinated with Gaelic culture from an early age. I suppose it's not surprising given my mother inherited a grá for the Irish language from my grandfather, an Irish school headmaster. And that grá continues! My brother and sister are now Gaelic teachers here in Ireland, my niece is an award winning Irish dancer, and I proudly work to share Irish culture through our Irish and Celtic Jewelry at My Irish Jeweler!

I love researching and reading about the history of Irish design. It's at the core of what we do here at My Irish Jeweler. I find much of it so interesting that I have to share what I find. I hope you enjoy it!

Dear myirishjeweler:
Have you ever created a piece of jewelry that was a 3 sided celtic knot intertwines with a heart?
I tired to attach a picture, but this system would not allow me.
[Is there an email address where I could send a picture of what I am looking for?]

I also tried a few times using the link to send a message, but it was not working...
Thanks.
Molly
