About This Piece

The star of these enigmatic drop earrings are the polished disks of Connemara marble, held securely in place by a circular interlace of sterling silver, inspired by the rays of the sun.

The sun was revered in Ireland even before the Celts, with impressive Neolithic sites like Newgrange built in alignment with the light from dawn or sunset. But the sun also held a special place in Celtic society, with eight sacred festivals all linked to the changing of the sun’s light throughout the year.

The reverse of the earrings have four sterling silver, heart shaped prongs that clasp the marble and allow its lovely colours and patterns to shine. Known as the gemstone of Ireland, no two pieces of Connemara marble are the same making this pair of earrings a truly unique piece of Ireland that looks stunning no matter which way they are viewed.
