This Sterling Silver brooch is handmade by Irish Master Silversmith Aidan Breen. This exceptionally talented designer and craftsman draws inspiration from Celtic Myth, as well as ancient Irish treasures and heritage for his striking designs.
This brooch features six ornate peacocks painstakingly crafted in 3 intertwined pairs. The heads of each pair of peacocks are entwined at three points forming a beautiful Celtic interlace pattern, while the feet and wings of the birds at the centre of the brooch come together to form a delicate but striking pierced pattern.
A striking and eye catching piece perfect to 'flaunt' on the lapel of a winter coat or a heavy chunky sweater. This piece is also available in a necklace design and looks impressive worn a long, 24" chain.
The inspiration for this stunning brooch are the intricate Celtic Bird designs in the world famous Book Of Kells. Written over 1000 years ago and now on display at Trinity College, Dublin, Celtic Birds believed to be peacocks feature throughout this lavishly illustrated and decorated book. Found on most of the major pages, the peacock represented eternal life, the sky and the heavens for it's early christian authors.
This piece is beautifully made by one of the premier silversmiths of this generation with no detail overlooked. Aidan is a master of his craft, often copied but with his skill, no one comes close to replicating his designs. Made in substantial sterling silver and hallmarked in Dublin by the Assay Office, this is an Irish treasure and future family heirloom to be passed down generations.
