About This Piece

Ogham is the first known written language of Ireland. The Ogham alphabet consists of groups of lines, set across a vertical stem-line. Each group represents a different letter of the alphabet and you read the inscription from the bottom up.

There are fine examples of Ogham stones scattered around Ireland that give glimpses into our ancient past. Ogham was initially engraved on standing stone markers to honor loved ones. Our ogham designs continue this tradition today, engraving your a word or name of significance for you in this ancient script.

The reverse of the necklace is left blank to facilitate an additional short engraving of 2 to 3 words should you choose to add it. Many choose to include the "translation" of their ogham engraving in the latin alphabet.
