Summer style - Five trends that will see you through 2023 and beyond

Written by Gemma Butler on Jul 21, 2023 | 4 Comments

Everyone likes to look their best, especially in summer. We’ve zeroed in on five stylish jewellery trends that will see you through summer and beyond. Striking the perfect balance between timeless and on trend, these are jewellery box staples that you can return to again and again to put the finishing touch on a stylish look.

1. Bangles

Turns out the Celts were real trendsetters on this one! Beloved by our ancient ancestors here in Ireland, bangles are back in a big way this year. Polished and refined or statement and chunky, bangles and torcs are being paired with everything from stylish suits in the boardroom, to bikinis on the beach.

These three look sharp wherever they are worn. Just be sure to take them off if you do choose to go for a dip. And of course there are bangles for those that want to really make an impact.

    2. Chunky Rings

Rings have always been a wonderful way to show a little personality and nothing speaks louder than a chunky ring. We’ve noticed a trend toward statement rings in the last few years, with signets, gemstone set, and cocktail style rings all skyrocketing in popularity.

These impactful designs are sure to start a conversation. And for those that prefer weight without the height, a chunky celtic band or a wide fit ring is the stylish look you are after.

    3. Pinky Rings

While on the subject of rings, those worn on the pinky are also growing in popularity too. And it is a style with deep roots, although not as deep as the celtic torc. Pinky rings were originally worn in Europe by male royals who donned signets bearing their coat of arms or regal crests. This style was adopted more broadly and to this day, pinky rings signify power, wealth, honor or position in society.

But pinky rings don’t have to be all about the power play. Straight up playful rings, or classic bands work equally well when worn on the pinky.

      4. Mixed Metals

This style isn’t as much about the design or even the type of jewellery, but rather the materials. We've always been fans of mixed metals for jewellery - two-tone pieces crafted using both gold and silver-toned precious metals. This style goes with pretty much everything and makes a statement without trying. What's not to love?

There are plenty of options to choose from with mixed metals for the stylish gent. And with lovely options like these, women needn’t choose between silver tones or warm gold either.

        5. Vibrant Gemstones

Last but certainly not least, brightly coloured gemstones seem to have captured many hearts of late. And it isn’t hard to see why. Vibrant hues add a pop of fun to any outfit and are sure to bring a smile every time they are worn. We have always been fans of emerald, ruby, and sapphire here at My Irish Jeweler. But we are pleased to see other stones like amethyst and peridot getting a look in too!

And if you can’t settle on a colour, you can always go for a piece that combines them for maximum impact.
